rah. if you read The Sunday Times on Sunday (duh) you probably would have come across this article on the beggars who actually live in Geylang hotels and own prosthetic legs (which are supposedly very expensive). If you haven't read it then SHAME ON YOU. kidding. just click on the link here. it is only available for the next 7 days though unless you subscribed to Straits Times online.
Seen in Singapore- China Amputees beg to get quick money i know its a long article and seemingly unimportant as compared to the US primaries or the never-ending inflation or the horrible transport problem in China, but the whole point of this blog entry is that I GOT SCAMMED. If that amputee can afford a plane ticket to Singapore and can even pay for his own prosthetic legs (correct me if i'm wrong but i think prosthetic legs cant be donated since they must be custom-made to fit each individual which totally means that they have the money to get people to custom make the legs for them.) why should i donate my hard-earned money to him when i see him in the morning? and i believe his minder actually takes a cut of his earnings. irritating.
im just ranting i know. in your mind you must be thinking "dawn's so dumb she got scammed. *cues evil laughter*" but its pissifying cause its my hard-earned money!! i have to stare at the stupid computer screen for hours and spoil my eyes and that guy scams my $$!! idiot.
next time i swear i'll only donate to buskers and beggars overseas (especially those in thailand with their young kids.). at least the buskers make me happy with their music. and even if i get scammed by the thai beggars i don't really care cause i just hope the kids there get a better life then their parents who have to beg. theres probably a syndicate controlling the beggars but who cares. at least if i donate then maybe the people in the syndicate wouldn't spank the kids so much.
